Crocheting

What’s On My Crochet Pinterest Board

I think many of us get our crochet inspiration from Pinterest. It certainly used to be the first place I used to look for patterns and tips when I was first developing my craft. Nowadays I tend to jump to Ravelry more as I usually have specific patterns in mind, or I check Instagram to see what my favourite designers are creating and crocheting.

But I do still check Pinterest from time to time and I have some wonderful inspiration on there this spring after a winter of crocheting but getting only a handful projects completed for this or that reason.

So today I thought I would share some of those inspirations and ideas as many of them are so beautiful and different from what I have been seeing in the crochet accounts I follow lately.

Pretty Stitches and Patterns

It *might* come as a shock, but I’m drawn to pretty stitches and patterns, and several immediately caught my eye and inspired me. So naturally, I pinned them! I really love the look of stitches that are floral, and I think they can be used in pieces to add visual interest. Also, they are great for those of us who love romantic decor and wearables.

I also like functional crochet, so I tend to pin those as well from time to time. I may never use these stitches or patterns, but I like having them as references and as something to spark my creativity as well.

Finishing Touches

Something that is important to the overall affect of your projects is finishing. Things like weaving in ends and adding boarders and tassels. Often, this can be tedious and in my experience, time consuming. But these final touches really make your finished pieces polished and looking handmade and artisan. So two of my most recent pins are ones that inspire me to continue to seek to ways to finish up projects in a way that adds beauty and makes the piece heirloom worthy.

Shawls and More Shawls

I also love to pin shawls. They are my favourite pieces to crochet, and I have started pinning only those that really inspire me in some way. I try and look for pieces that have interesting colours or unique shapes and stitches so that they provide inspiration rather than just sit on my board because they are pretty. I want to pin a shawl that makes me pause and think about colours and texture and how I can use those features in my own designs.

In Conclusion

So that’s a bit of peek of what is on my Pinterest board. I don’t pin a lot because I want it to be an inspirational board, and not a doom scroll board. That can be a trap too. I’m glad I returned to Pinterest for inspiration because it is good to seek inspiration from different sources and switch those sources up once in a while. Especially if your crojo isn’t exactly on, which mine hasn’t been lately.
